How to set up a website
First, you need to come up with a domain name. That is your unique address for people to find you on the World Wide Web. For example blestweb.com is our domain name. Once you come up with a name it needs to be registered with a domain registrar and then it becomes your property and no one else can use that name. We include domain registration for free in all our hosting packages. We can also register additional names for $20.00 a year. This might be helpful if there is a similar name to your domain that you don’t want a competitor to use.
Second, you need to set up a hosting account. The hosting account is a computer server that stores all the information that is contained on your website. When your domain name is typed in someone’s internet browser it retrieves the information from this computer server and displays it on their computer.
Third, you need to have a website designed. This is the process of creating the look and feel of your site as well as what information you want to include. All the files that are created in this design process are stored on the computer server of the hosting company.
Fourth, you need to determine how you plan to update your site. We can do this for your or there is a software program called Contribute that allows you to make basic updates to your site.
